Question by newmommie: How does one know if they have Celiac Disease (think I might have it but not sure) & what foods can I eat?
Hi, I’ve had digestive issues for several years now, and I’m starting to think I might have Celiac Disease since I eat a lot of whole wheat bread and whole wheat flour tortillas etc. and I still have digestive issues and get lots of headaches almost on a daily basis. I know people with Celiac disease need to avoid certain things, like wheat and products containing gluten, but what else should be avoided? Also, I love Pamela’s food line and know her stuff is gluten free, but what are some other good brands for people that suffer from Celiac Disease and where can I buy them? Thanks, I kinda hope I do have Celiac so I can finally figure out what’s been causing all my digestive issues all these years and can finally do something about it.

Hi there. I certainly don’t mean to tell you what to do, but I think that it is really important for you to see your doctor and tell them your concerns and they might send you for blood tests, but you need to stipulate that you want to be tested for Celiac because with normal blood tests, they test your blood for a multidude of things, where as the Celiac blood test is one specific blood test.
Let me tell you something else, you not only have to avoid wheat products containing gluten, but there are heaps of things you need to avoid. This gluten free diet is very restrictive.
Unfortunately, there is no set list of things to avoid that I know of, you just need to do a lot of research.
Anyhow, I hope this helps.
