Question by : If you suspect celiac disease do you go to gastroenterologist or family physician? How is it tested?

You can go to either but you might have better luck at a gastroenterologist because they can do more testing. They would both give you a blood test for it, but you may need further testing like an endoscopy – which a gastroenterologist would do. I would suggest going to your family physician as a start, and if you/your doctor feel it’s necessary, then you can be referred to a gastroenterologist.
