Question by reject4life2003: Alternative Medicine for Celiac Disease?
My best friend is pretty sure that she has celiac disease, and she is afraid of taking the medicines for it because of the more serious down falls of the meds. She also has the skin rash Dermatitis Herpetiformis and she doesn’t know what to do for either.
Does anyone have any good holistic medicine recommendations her?

Celiac Disease Alternative Medicine
Celiac.com 02/12/2007 – Before they are diagnosed, people with celiac disease often find themselves in an unenviable position. They may go out of their way to eat a wholesome, balanced diet including plenty of fruits and vegetables, a good variety of whole-grain foods, and a modest amount of meat and dairy, yet still find themselves suffering a whole range of bothersome stomach and digestive complaints including indigestion, gas, stomach cramps and diarrhea, alternating with constipation.
What do you think? Answer below!
I don’t know what medicines your friend has been told to take for celiac disease but as of now there aren’t any for it. She needs to get on a gluten free lifestyle and stay on it and the symptoms will ease up and go away as long as she is gluten free.
An easy way to start a gluten free diet is to eat fresh fruits and veggies, non processed meats, chicken and fish, eggs and cheese. Add in potatoes and rice for starches as needed. Just don’t worry at first with finding bread, pasta, and other thing substitutes. They are there and available. After a few weeks of this diet, she can start learning how to read labels, find stores that carry things she likes that are gluten free and cleaning up things in her kitchen so she won’t have anything with gluten in it.
The dermititis herpetiformis should also clear up on a gluten free diet but it sometimes takes longer.
The only thing other than food that she might want to consider is gluten free multivitamin and some sort of omega complex capsules to help provide some extra nutruients that she needs to repari her intestines and skin.
Good luck
